Description
Through online channels and TV networks, our objective was to welcome icon David Beckham to America. Our challenge was to introduce him (Beckham) to what we (Americans) call “Football”. We aimed to give a broad target audience a unique behind-the-scenes look at two world class athletes: Reggie Bush and David Beckham.
Our project solution was Futbol Meets Football (FmF). FmF was a way of introducing a European Futbol icon to what we Americans call “Football”. We show a European Footballer teaching an American Football player what his sport is all about. FmF discovers the real, fun, dedicated, and friendly side of these two athletes. It portrays the mutual respect found in each of these two sports—something our American audience often lacks for European football.
Execution
We invited 12 young players to what they thought would be a skills camp where they were surprised by six NBA All-Stars. We documented the weeklong experience and cut the episodic content up into multiple platforms: web films, direct-response TVC, print, mobile and retail.
