It was critical to the director to discover a lead character who ends up defining the story beyond any of the commercial’s writing or even the filmmaker’s own filmmaking. As we see in the film, the hero has a sublime level of pathos in the eyes, and is lovable and sweet. He hysterically and subtly resigns to this new path his life has taken. Supporting characters merely accent the lead with performances that never draw attention away from the subtle comedy and utility of the Pringles appendage within each scene. Casting was done locally in Mexico City (where the film was filmed).
