Whale Song suggests that we have a power beyond our own language to connect with other beings. In this case, through music.The inspiration for this composition comes from the idea that we could connect with whales through our music, created from theirs.To capture a sense that we were speaking to them in their language, Noise used players, abnormally familiar with their instruments, to perform elements of real whale songs that could be recognisably musical. We then composed a piece that aims to convey the sense of beauty & wonder these creatures inspire, using only these sounds.
