Description

The film is an epic story of a first kiss and of a man overcoming his fears to show a woman he loves her. More than just a tagline, 'Life is a beautiful sport' is Lacoste new promise.

Execution

The VFX company utilized a number of VFX techniques on the film, including matte painting, CG and shot elements – which combined to create the dreamlike, moody environment on top of the skyscraper. The film was shot on a rooftop in downtown Bangkok, as well as against green screen. The VFX team was given these plates and completely altered and enhanced the skyline, adding new buildings and layers of mist. A team of digital matte painters created the skyline, while a team of CG artists created the foreground buildings in intricate detail. They also also created foreground mist using Maya fluids.

The hero building was modeled and re-lit in CG, along with the city matte painting, to make it feel like an early morning scene- it had been shot around noon. The extra CG foreground buildings were based on stills of Thai buildings, taken by the team on-set. A team of compositors projected the layers of matte painting and blended them with the CG and live action.

The protagonist was shot attached to rigs and wires in studio. He was blasted with smoke and dry ice to give the effect of falling through the air and a lighting rig was attached for the strobing effect. The Vfx team re-made the parts of his clothing and skin that were covered.

In the top shot, as our hero has almost cleared the building, the city below was created in CG and our hero was re-lit in comp, to match the shots around it. Layers of CG cloud were composited to give depth and drama. Extensive rig removal was again required.
