Description

The Collaborators was a series created by The Creators Project and Daft Arts to help tell the story behind Daft Punk's album, Random Access Memories, before it was released to the world.

Each of the eight episodes featured one legendary collaborator, with Pharrell Williams being the focus of the fourth episode.

The episodes were meant to convey information about the process of creating the album, and the history of the collaborators involved, while also introducing the world to the aesthetic and ideas behind the album.

The lighting, the editing style, and shooting on 16mm film were all stylistic choices meant to evoke both classic documentary filmmaking, and parallel the same level of craftsmanship as the album and overall campaign.

To build a compelling narrative with a single interview, we created slight stylistic adjustments for each artist, seen here with the color choices in treating Pharrell's footage, and the use of carefully selected objects to bring to life his very abstract stories.

Pharrell takes us through an in depth discussion about his experiences in working with the Daft Punk, a first hand depiction of how the summers most popular track came to life.
