We built car-sized mobile phones and recreated car accidents with them. On the crashed screens there were text messages with hard data to crate consciousness about the risk of texting and driving.
“Tweeting whilst driving is equivalent to driving with closed eyes for 15 seconds.”
“Reading a WhatsApp message of merely 15 words is the same as driving 40 metres without control.”
“Dialling a mobile number whilst driving is the same as driving across half a football field with your eyes closed.”
Outcome
Naturally, people shared the action with their mobile phones through social networks. The installations caught the attention of policemen, ambulances and firemen that were not part of the original plan, but made our idea more real, creating wider and deeper impact.
