OVERVIEW

Description

The Last One. We meet a range of women all with breast cancer who tell us they "won’t be the last one to…lose my hair, lose my breasts, to hear ‘we've found it in your bones’, to have to tell my children...", building up to the penultimate line... "I won’t be the last one to die of breast cancer... but there will be a last one”.

Execution

The majority of our push to find women was through social media. We set up a Facebook page and contacted women who had breast cancer through their own support groups. Our sensitive research team all of whom come from a documentary film background were able to quickly build up the trust of the community then our directors skype interviewed with some 50+ women over a period of 3 weeks to create a shortlist that became our cast. We could’t rush these interviews as most of the women we were speaking to had terminal cancer. Two of the women who appeared in the commercial have since died. We didn’t want actors or professionals, none of the women we cast have any acting training they are mums, bankers, IT workers, social workers, lawyers, yoga teachers, students, retirees.
