Description

Roman Zoltowski - the narrator of this animated mini documentary - was Wimbledon’s official engraver for 35 years. He’s a 76 year-old man who drives a 55 year old car from Poland to Wimbledon every year to carve the winners names on the trophies. He is an unparalleled perfectionist and this film gives us an insight into his attitude to perfection while highlighting some of his most amusing anecdotes.

The Last Road Trip is part of Stella Artois' Perfectionists series, a campaign celebrating the unsung heroes behind some of the World’s Greatest Events - from Wimbledon to Festival de Cannes - by showcasing the incredible attention to detail involved in bringing them to life.

Execution

To create The Last Road Trip artist Christian Borstlap employed a unique animation style that includes a variety of analogue techniques, ranging from hand drawn illustration to watercolour. The result is a highly crafted film in which the attention for detail is noticeable in every frame and is as much of a protagonist of the film as the main character himself.
