Description
There are two things that Easter is best associated with in Hong Kong, the Easter bunny and hunting for Easter eggs with a basket. So, we decided to give both experiences to consumers along with the Easter Rainbow egg.
Thus was born our packaging idea, the McBunny Egg Basket.
It had an adorable Easter Bunny design with its ears sticking out, and allowed you to carry the Rainbow eggs around like a basket. With this unique design, we turned a self-consumption product into an item that is perfect for gifting during Easter.
Execution
Although customers could purchase individual Rainbow Eggs, the McBunny Egg Basket was given along as a gift set if you purchased four eggs.
The gift set was promoted in-store at McCafés all over Hong Kong and also at the point of purchase.
Outcome
The McBunny Egg Basket was enormously popular among McCafé Hong Kong’s customers. The gift set was sold out in 5 days, which was three times faster than our original projection of 14 days. In the first day alone, we sold 52% more than our sales target.
