Description

The idea was to develop a helmet that helps create the habit of piloting with the helmet on. The solution is a smart helmet, with sensors that allow you to start the bike only if the pilot is using it correctly.

Execution

The helmet was developed following the technology of a smart key. If the helmet is not near, the motorcycle simply does not start. It works with three sensors: one of proximity, which sends signals to the motor starting of the motorcycle and another two in the sides of the helmet, that guarantee that the helmet is properly placed. One communicates with the other and only allow to turn on the bike when both are activated. All this, powered by a rechargeable battery coupled internally to the helmet.

About the design, it is no different from an ordinary helmet because the system is perfectly integrated into the inner parts of the helmet, so that the use is as natural as possible.

Outcome

The Really Safe Helmet is not yet in production, but Honda is taking the necessary steps to manufacture it on a large scale to sell as a standard item on the Honda SH150i scooter.
