Background
Tienda Inglesa is a very traditional supermarket in Uruguay, especially in Punta del Este, where the fire happened.
Idea
The only thing that survived from the old store was an exterior logo that was miraculously spared by the fire.
As a way of recognizing everyone who helped in the reopening, we redesigned that logo and turned it into a message to the community: Thank you.
Strategy
Tienda Inglesa is the most popular supermarket chain in Uruguay. When the fire cought its entire main store, the news spread in every local and regional media.
We had to make a statement about this. Our statement to all the people concerned about this news was: "we will get back stronger". And we definetly got back that way. 120 days later, we did, building a brand new store in record time with the support of the government and the store workers that took the cause as their own.
The day of the grand opening, we reveal a sign with the only thing that remain of the fire that destroyed the previous store. This sign become a symbol of resilience that took the media as a new beggining and hope.
Execution
The poster was redesigned by Gallery, the company that makes the company's signage. On the day of the inauguration, it was publicly presented at an event for the press, employees and authorities. The sign is still posted at the store entrance for all to see.
Outcome
The coverage of the reopening was immense. All the articles that appeared in the media highlighted the new poster and the spirit of the message.
