Description

One of the largest crowd sourcing exercises in the world, Times of India’s Day in the Life of India initiative calls upon all Indians to upload pictures, videos, cartoons et al that capture the eccentric, crazy, maverick, chaotic, unreal side of the cultural pot boiler that is the real India. To kick off this massive initiative, the launch film captured the metaphorical circus called India through the chaotic repercussions on family life, politics, religion, industry, black market, street life and the media when an elephant breaks loose from a local street circus. A water hydrant bursts open leading to water being sold by the water mafia. A milk seller has his spurious milk spilt on the streets. The elephant stops before the image of Ganesha – the great Elephant-headed God of Hinduism. This is promptly termed a miracle by a gossip journalist. And the chain goes carries on. As hell regins, we end with a typical street mendicant dressed as the Shiva – the God of destruction capturing the whole scene on his mobile phone. It’s all fair in love, war and just another typical day in the life of India. You’ve simply got to believe it to see it.
