Background

OKQ8 is a very Swedish chain of gas stations. They have outlets across this widespread country, from the south to the far north. They spring from the OK and Gulf (later Q8) merge, and both OK and Gulf have been vital parts of many communities and cities.

They are a part of a common Swedish heritage, like IKEA and H&M. And they are still present in many parts of the couyntry, where they are the only commercial actor. They are the gas station – but they are also the grocery store, the gambling office, the post office, the cafe, the fast food restaurant and the place to generally hangout and meet with others.

OKQ8 have been awarded "best at service" (Source: Service Score) four consecutive years. They have amazing people working there, always putting in that extra effort. Really humble, service-minded and kind people.

Execution

This is a documentary ad, without script or actors. It's portraying real coworkers at an OKQ8 gas station, one evening. One of them have brought a large tuba and starts playing it outside the station. A neighbor screams "shut up!" from a nearby balcony and another neighbor calls the station on the phone, telling them to make that f***ing trumpet (sic!) stop playing.

The tuba player picks some candy and flowers from the station shop, and pays a visit to the caller, who lives next to the station. He says he's sorry. She gets pleasantly surprised! He then walks back to the station, telling us that "you can only do your best", exuding a very humble, genuine and kind personality – that's perfectly aligned with what OKQ8 want to be percieved as. Packshot says "No 1 in Service, four consecutive years." / OKQ8 – you can only do your best.
