Background

In Thailand, families have become more diverse.

However, they are still labeled by society as a troubled family.

People believe that a perfect family must consist of a mother, father and children.

Even at school, textbooks approved by the Ministry of Education also shape this norm.

Society believes that other types of the family as single mom's life must always be sad and failed.

Gay parents don’t deserve to raise a child because it may cause a child gender confusion.

An adoptive family is impossible to treat and love orphans like their own children.

These misconceptions may not always be explicitly expressed,

but they are engrained in Thai consumers’ mind.

We need a way to unveil these subconscious misconceptions and offer society undeniable truths.

Sammakorn, Thailand's first residential developer would like to help society break the misperception of diverse family

Execution

Introducing, “The Un-Stereotype Family”

We created a social experiment in an acting class with a group of university students.

First, the students randomly selected a family type and made a role play from their perspective

to reflect the stereotype in diverse families.

Then we showed them the true perspective of diverse families,

which was totally different from what they did in a role play.

Outcome

This movie breaks the label of the diverse families among these students and

changes the social perception of the word “Family” that has been cultivated for a long time.

Moreover, the diverse families also engaged and supported this content.
