Description
This film takes us on an epic journey down the pipeline that delivers Virgin WiFi to your home. Alongside us is the plethora of entertainment we consume online, racing towards its destination, a young girl’s tablet. We’re passed by post-apocalyptic vehicles, caught in the midst of a zombie hoard, and taken back in time as carriages from period drama gallop alongside us. But who will win?
Outcome
On paper, most people would decide to shoot huge amounts of this film against a big green screen and build the tunnel in CG. We decided we wanted to build the set for real - something nobody had done before in this context - building the largest, bespoke, futuristic tunnel ever built for a commercial, allowing us to shoot all cast and vehicles in-camera in a real, lit set so we are not relying on any tricks. A 3 week design period was followed by a 5 week build period with structural engineers involved at every stage, with lighting elements being fitted last. We then tested the structural stability of the tunnel with vehicles pre-shoot . Number of lights in the tunnel - over 1200.
