When I received the brief for the Singapore Tourism Board project, I wanted to explore the relationships and parallels between spaces and movement through architectural flow and juxtaposition by intercutting them in a non-linear structure. I took architectural photographs of possible locations and arranged them in an architectural flow-board, which became the structure for the film and was used to inspire the music and choreography. I briefed the composer to write music inspired by the architectural flow and style of the dance company, starting with abstraction and ending in celebration. I worked with the choreographers to choreograph movement to the music for specific spaces in the order of the flow-board with the instruction to let dancers interact with and mimic the shape and movement of the architecture. Only after all of this was in place did I create the shot list. It came together in the edit without a fuss.
