Background

Pledge® is a leading brand of furniture polish, but most people think we only clean wood. We needed to find a way to prove that Pledge® doesn’t just clean wood anymore and to increase our relevance with modern homeowners.

Idea

Every month, millions of people visit Pinterest® to find the latest trends for their homes. To prove that Pledge® doesn’t just clean wood anymore, we turned Pinterest® Trend Data into a real apartment filled with all of the surfaces people were searching for.

Strategy

To prove that Pledge® cleans your apartment no matter what’s trending, we partnered with Pinterest® to bring their Trend Data to life in a never-been-done before way. Using Pinterest®’s Trends Tool, a custom insights pull, as well as Pinterest®’s visual and guided search capabilities, we analyzed 35M monthly 'home decor styles' searches on the platform for a team of stylists to bring to life to in real time.

Broadcast live on Pinterest® for 12 hours, Pinners watched a team of stylists bring their searches to life in real time. Each room was cleaned with Pledge® before being photographed and uploaded onto a live Pin Board. One apartment, 12 hours of trends, and 156 unique pins later, we proved that Pledge® cleans your apartment, no matter what’s trending.

Execution

We built an apartment, lined up all of the furniture and surfaces that could possibly be part of a trend and waited for the data to roll in. Broadcast live on Pinterest® for 12 hours, Pinners watched a team of stylists bring their searches to life in real time. As the trends changed, the apartment changed. For each new trend, the team located furniture, moved it onto the set, styled it, cleaned it with Pledge®, photographed it, turned it into a unique Pin to be uploaded onto a Live Pin Board, and moved it out, before the next trend was announced.
