Description
For years there are rumors about the adaptation of the Watch_Dogs franchise into a movie, but nothing confirmed yet officially by Ubisoft.
Instead of asking a Hollywood studio to develop a blockbuster like Assassin’ Creed one – coming 2 month after -, let offer the fans of Watch_Dogs 2 the chance to become the showrunner and realisator of the franchise short movie !
The Watch_Dogs Film Fest #WDFF invites creators around the world to submit a creative video content about #hackingheroes, in any form, between 5’’ to 5’.
30 days of competition, to convince the 3 members of the members of the international jury : Louis Leterrier (Director of blockbuster for Marvel), the 2 creators of Watch_Dogs video game, and local ambassadors incarnated by relevant Youtube content creators.
Execution
Each video entry was moderated, translated and subtitled in english in less than 2 days.
The ceremony happened online, the day of the release of the game :
- the local youtubers announced the local winners,
- and a video ceremony featuring Louis Leterreier and Watch_Dogs creators announced the 2 international winners
- the public also voted for their best content
20 nationalities took part into the festival.
Outcome
- 60 hours of content have been created by fans, it is like 5 seasons of Mr.Robot! The film Fest is an entertainment creative hub for fans of hacking and Watch_Dogs franchise
- 9,8 millions video viewed around the world
- The winner content offering a tone and a direction that no agency nor brand could ever take the risk to produce
