Description
In each story, an extremely naive main character or characters are driving in a car. They are driving to a specific destination with a specific goal. The narrator describes the circumstances that led to this journey. At first, it seems like the circumstances are innocent. But the more detail the narrator goes into, the more it becomes obvious that a perilous situation lurks ahead. However, our main characters remain oblivious to the danger that’s right in front of them. Luckily, it is metaphorically detected by their Nissan’s Forward Emergency Braking – which automatically stops the car before any harm is done.
Execution
The scripts were developed in conjunction with veteran Canadian comedic actor Keith Dinicol, who also narrated the series, and audio director Tom Eymundson, who directed the stories.
Development of the scripts took place over 2 months from late February, with the recording of the 5 episodes taking place over two 3 hour ISDN sessions between Toronto and New York.
The Coen Brothers / Indy Hollywood style was a deliberate choice to ensure the series could be exported to other regions on the current of long-standing American cultural export flows.
Outcome
At the time of entry, the series had its first airings on commercial broadcast radio in Canada.
This is the pilot series, with the goal of creating further series for a range of individual Nissan technological features, to air it in multiple Nissan regions around the world.
The critical reception to the series has been hugely positive so far, with additional requests to feature it on comedy podcasts.
