Description
Chiat was the original Los Angeles advertising agency founded in 1968. We set out to show the city of Los Angeles as the creative pioneer - a city built on creative dreams. To do this we eschewed the cliche postcard vision of LA, and instead choosing to showcase it’s black and white underbelly, the city where the outsider is the insider. And who better to narrate that story than the poet/rebel and native son of Los Angeles, Charles Bukowski.
The objective was to appeal to the like minded creative community around the world excited by ideas, brands and geography.
Execution
We shot a black and white homage to the creative soul of Los Angeles. Shot in one day, using digital photography as well as montage and typographic elements, we built a story around the alternative Los Angeles.
Outcome
Since the release of the film, and during this ever competitive time, the creative department at Chiat\Day LA has grown over 40 percent. 30 percent of that coming from outside the state of California.
