Description

Wilson is the biggest sports equipment brand in the world. But when you think of the biggest sports brands, we are actually far down on the list below Nike, Under Armour and Adidas. The brief was to use technology to create a halo product that deepens the connection between athletes and their equipment. And one that proves that Wilson is on the forefront of innovation in athletic equipment.

Execution

The Wilson X Connected basketball is the first basketball that connects with your smartphone to tell you when a basket is made, or missed, with no wires or attachments. Using this information we can create an immersive experience that provides game-time pressure as athletes are training in order to help them perform better in real-game situations.

It also provides real-time data and analytics than can help athletes focus training time on the areas where they need the most improvement.

We launched in September of 2015 with the plan of making a big push towards the Christmas holiday shopping season in retail stores and online at amazon.com.

Outcome

We beat our KPIs and sold out of the ball on Amazon and at retail stores before Christmas.
