For young children, getting an X-ray is scary. This creative installation was designed to make them feel more comfortable with what was about to happen (and a little bit distracted while they wait).

We X-rayed six of the characters from the Toy Story films – Buzz, Woodie, Jessie, Bullseye, Mr. Potato Head and Slinky. (We did this for real, using the toys.)

We reproduced their X-rays as large format vinyl posters (A0 or bigger), shaped to fit empty wall spaces in the waiting area of the X-ray department in the children's hospital. There is also one old medical lightbox, where we show the actual X-rays.

(There are eight posters in total, because we X-rayed Slinky in three different poses.)

Each poster has a little message from the character, about how easy the X-ray process is.

These are permanent posters. Our Lady's Children's Hospital Crumlin is Ireland's main children's hospital.
