BriefExplanation
We turned Boost Mobile stores into voting stations to make voting easier and more accessible in underserved neighborhoods.
On November 8, people voted in Boost Mobile stores across the country. Marking an unprecedented partnership between government and a corporation in an election.
For one day, Boost Mobile stores became a part of the voting experience in America, belonging to the people as part of our democratic system.
While long lines persisted in many low-income neighborhoods, in Boost precincts, voting ran smoothly and turnout increased 23% over 2012.
EntrySummary
Boost Mobile is a prepaid wireless carrier. Its brand mission is to help its customers be heard – primarily low-income, working-class minorities.
These Americans face more obstacles to vote, including longer lines and fewer locations. With the repeal of the Voting Rights Act, 868 polling locations were eliminated in 2016, primarily in low-income and minority neighborhoods.
Since Boost Mobile stores are located in these communities, we saw an opportunity to help: by turning Boost Mobile stores into voting stations on Election Day.
