Goal: elevate and protect the Chuck Taylor line through Converse EMEA’S largest Spring 2011 activation. Guiding concepts: “a blank Canvas for self-expression” and “independent enough not to follow”. Converse are dedicated to enabling engaging brand experiences with an emphasis on music, art and events. Our idea: use the shoes themselves as the vehicle for delivering unique and exciting experiences. The Canvas is a fully-functional digital screen built out of 480 Chuck Taylor's, each connected to a servomotor enabling 180° rotation. The shoes act as pixels, making it possible to render images and animations on what’s effectively a low-resolution screen. As of today, May 23, the Canvas films have received 27,656 likes on Facebook and 125,168 views on YouTube. The films were released one by one, and have now been live between one and four weeks.
