Description
3D on the Rocks is a service through which users enjoy whisky with ice cubes created in their desired shape with the use of the state-of-the-art 3D technology. It’s a game changing idea that raises the interest of younger generations in whisky and disrupts the whisky market. To spread this service, we opened a Pop Up Bar in several locations within Tokyo. All they had to do was to send their 3D data via their smart phone beforehand. The users enjoyed whisky with ice cubes in their desired shape at the bars.
Execution
We developed an original CNC router to shave the ice. It made it possible to shave ice in a superfine way like never before by optimizing the blueprint 3D data for shaving ice. The technology that revolutionized the out-of-date style of enjoying whisky quickly attracted the young people all over the world and drove many people to the special site as soon as the video was released online.
Outcome
We rocked the world in just two weeks. Over 5 million Tweets from 47 countries spread the story around the world. More than a hundred inquiries were made to install our 3D on the Rocks service at bars, which contributed to Suntory whisky sales. We were covered on CNN, ABC, YAHOO!, CNET, and many other local and global news and trend sites. And, finally, we are in talks with fashion brands and the music industry for future parties and events.
