The orange snowplow is an icon of cold in Chicago. It was the intent of the creative to make the same thing true of the product during the hot Chicago summer.
Outcome
More shakes were sold in the Arctic Orange promotion than in any comparable shake promotion in McDonald’s history. In addition, Arctic Orange Shake sales increased net profit by 19% per week at control stores and the number of shakes sold increased 49.74%.
