Description

In America, teens have limitless entertainment options. Hundreds of cable channels, on demand programming, Hollywood, gaming, and the Internet - always on and within reach on screens of all sizes. To be successful our branded content had to not only be relevant to teen athletes, but to be genuinely entertaining.

Execution

The challenge was to blend and transitioning plates shot on set with famous historical sports footage, using a variety of 2D, 3D, matte paiting and motion graphics.

As the available footage of the Kansas Chiefs victory in SuperBowl IV was not usable, the whole scene was shot on set and then reskinned by a combination of Maya and Massive software to match the original. The transition from Jordan’s dunk to DWade celebration required to recreate the jumbotron entirely in 3D. The Rose Bowl in Pasadena, where part of the spot was shot, was transformed into the 1960’s “The Swamp” along with the Giants Stadium in 1985 and the Mile High Stadium. The build of packed stadium took about 5 senior flame ops to create the illusion with complex detail. Transitioning from Serena Williams’ tennis match to Peyton Manning was achieved by extending the tennis court with a matte painting. The transition of the confetti scene to the liquid in the Gatorade bottle was a full 3D work.

Once the transitions were completed, the final look was comped in to match the live action material from all the various era’s from the 60’s film look which started off as alexa raw – 80’s video to modern day.
