Description

To put a spotlight on who's really at stake when families live in unstable homes, we created Brick for Brick- a simple idea that showed people the hopes and dreams of a little girl, and engaged them in bringing it to life.

A national PSA told the emotional story of a daughter’s innocent efforts to build a house out of toy blocks and asked people to donate online to help complete it.

Finally, we brought the little girl’s dream to life by building a life-size house out of toy blocks.

Execution

Made with over 36,000 bricks that would stand twice as tall as the CN tower, the house was built with the team of Habitat engineers and volunteers, a master toy brick builder and thousands of dollars worth of generous donations from Mega Bloks.

It took over nine months of prepping planning and two test builds, one with smaller Lego sized pieces and one with the larger Mega Bloks.

With a footprint of over 400 sq.ft. and standing over 13 feet tall, the house is one of the largest structure ever built out of toy blocks.

Outcome

With a $0 media budget, Habitat for Humanity receive over $300,000 worth of donated media and generated over 78 million organic impressions.

After receiving requests from Habitat for Humanity chapters around the world, Habitat now plans to roll out the Brick for Brick fundraiser globally.
