The virals were designed to promote the D & AD awards scheme and encourage people in the creative fraternity to enter by dramatising the prestigious nature of these awards.A series of interviews with past winners of the coveted yellow pencils were conducted and then given to young animators who were ex-D & AD students. Thus we combined those at the top of the creative ladder with those on the first rung. The theme of the interviews was the commitment to excellence which spurred these people towards the awards. To win a D & AD pencil was thus shown to require a very special passion and personal motivation which was reflected in the various animation styles.
