Placing the ad on the 2nd page means that the ad gets the best attention, especially seeing that it precedes the contents page. What’s more, the ad is a DPS. Most guys read the magazine on their laps so when you place the magazine on your lap, you get the joke immediately. So the ad becomes interactive and engages the target audience with what they have experienced and soon will.

Outcome

Seeing that this is a student title, hence the name Student Life, we distributed condoms to dining halls in places of learning when the advert came out and within three weeks, most of these places of learning put in new orders for more supplies of condoms.
