Description

Using exclusive, never-before-seen pictures captured by dedicated New York Times journalists on the ground and in various parts of the world, each of our films depict the great lengths these men and women go to uncover the hard truth, ending on the actual shots published in the New York Times articles.

Execution

This film features never-before-seen pictures taken by Pulitzer Prize–winning New York Times photographer Tyler Hicks during his coverage of the Syrian refugees arriving in Lesbos, Greece, on October 7, 2015. As he describes his experience on the ground, we see some of his outtakes, leading up to the final shot featured in The Times article titled “Waves of Young Syrian Men Bring Hope, and a Test, to Europe.”

Outcome

It is too early for us to determine results, as the campaign launched right at time of eligibility. However, we can relay these in the lead-up to Cannes.
