Description
The idea was to create an App that uses the Smartphones camera to recognize Migros products. “Discover” then suggests cooking ideas in Augmented Reality using or complimenting the selected product. “Discover” also displays customers more than 80'000 consumer ratings and nutritional facts or detailed product information.
Execution
“Discover” is an easy to use App and very intuitive, therefore the design is very reduced and straight forward. “Discover” is directly connected to the Smartphones Camera and shows various information and inspiration around a product in Augmented Reality after it had been scanned. It is programmed in Apples new language SWIFT and also Microsoft’s Open Source framework ASP.NET Core. Additionally all core components of the system are cloud based.
Outcome
After its release “Discover” was major news across Switzerland and a trending topic in the international press. “Discover” had media reach of 5.2 Million in a country with only 8.2 Million inhabitants!
500'000 products were scanned in the first week after the launch.
And 25’000 consumers already use “Discover” daily while shopping.
With conversion rates rising sharply every day.
