Description

In this film we see father coming home from work. Enthusiastically he enters the home and calls his kids, expecting them to come running. Unfortunately they are so absorbed in their games that they don’t notice him, much to his disappointment.

Mum lovingly kisses her husband and takes him into the kitchen.

She prepares a lovely chicken dinner and gives her husband a quick bite. He enjoys the taste and call his kids for dinner. Again, they don’t react. His wife then teasingly calls out, “ki-ids… Spring chicken!” Upon hearing these magic words and smelling the great aroma the kids come running.

At this point they actually notice that father has come home. They cheerfully jump on his lap for a group hug and the family dog jumps on them as well. Father and dog fall over and frolic. Everyone laughs and they sit down to enjoy dinner, together.

Execution

With the exception of the food, this spot was entirely created in the computer. Animated using 3D (CG) animation using Houdini and rendered in Mantra.

The main challenge with CG is getting the family to act, perform and tell a story that is believable and lovable. Our incredible animation team managed to create empathetic and entertaining characters with heart.

In order for our animated characters to speak lip-sync, we filmed the voice actors during the recordings. Our animators visually tried to match the movements of the mouth and facial expressions. When we adapt the ad for other countries, we tweak the copy to be as close as possible to the lip movement.

Because in food advertising taste is the biggest USP, the food has been "scanned" using photogrammetry during a photo-shoot.
