We asked ourselves: How can we attract attention to a topic most of us consider too awful to contemplate and does not affect us directly? The answer: Using a social trend everybody stop their thumbs for while scrolling through their timeline – food. We used the hype around those time lapse recipe videos and gave them a creative twist to catch people’s eyes for our purpose. By showing the preparation of a special kind of food: The last meals of doomed Chinese inmates.
Execution
We produced recipe videos in the style of Foodblogs like „Tasty“ and posted them for Chinese New Year. First the user saw the typical preparation steps, followed by the arrangement of the dish and... completed by the note whose last meal that was. Within a few days we reached thousands of users in the social community and brought back the social into social media.
