Paul Lederhausen is the founder of McDonald’s Sweden. In 1993 he and his wife Irene built the first Ronald McDonald House in Sweden, in loving memory of their daughter Erica, who passed away from cystic fibrosis in 1976. The film is based on chapters from Lederhausen’s own memoir and follows Erica from her birth to her passing and how the parents cope with their loss by starting a project to help families in the same situation as themselves. There are currently five Ronald McDonald Houses in Sweden and over 50 000 families have been able to live close to the care their children need since the first house was built.
