Background
Tinder is the #1 dating app in the world, yet people think Tinder is just a hookup app. Our task was to help rectify their reputation by repositioning Tinder as a place where a Gen Z dater can find all kinds of relationships—even long-term ones.
This film was used to help launch Tinder’s first-ever global campaign, titled “It Starts With A Swipe.” Rather than ignoring Tinder’s hookup misconceptions, we knew we had to address them head on. That’s how we landed on a cheeky VO with a twist: “When you matched on Tinder you had no idea you’d go all the way… across the world for your destination wedding”.
Execution
We loved the idea of redefining the Tinder app. We wanted to elevate the reality of the first kiss. It’s a burst of emotions. You lose the consciousness of where you are, you’re gravitating, you take off to be in a different reality. The first kiss could be the journey to your wedding night. We wanted to depict the couple “making out” in an elegant way. Elevating the carnality to the poetic side. We choreographed skilled dancers so we could see their journey.
