Description

Sports can make you feel alive and this film calls Brazilian youth to embrace physical activities in their everyday lives. In today’s hyper-connected context, where social activities are often related to consumption and increasing sedentary lifestyles, all you need is someone to give you a small push to get active. Both in life and in sports, no one can accomplish anything alone. And that’s the beauty of it. The “plus one” through sports can change everything. From just an acquaintance to a real friendship, sports can create powerful human bonds that transform lives entirely, represented in this film by ordinary young Brazilians. This film is also a reminder that creativity is limitless when it comes to finding the best spot to practice sports, even in the busiest cities. There are unlimited possibilities that surround us everyday, just waiting for us to "get in the game" together. And now the time has come to connect those who want to play with those who are already playing.

Execution

Google created a cross-device web app that uses Google+ and Google Maps to connect people who share a passion for sports, making it effortless for anyone to schedule a game of pick-up and find people who are already playing. Joga+1 also presents a Google Maps database of public spaces all over the country, allowing people to discover the best spots to practice sports. The campaign was designed to inspire people to find their "plus one" and create social connections through sports, composed by 4 highly engaging films, including TV ad and interactive banners on mobile & desktop.

Outcome

On the first ten days, more than 3.000 sports activities were created, in 932 cities all over Brazil, with 500.000 new people willing to play (unique visitors). Joga+1 received such massive media coverage, that major sports NGOs got in the game with Google, bringing the positive impact of sports on health and education. The campaign’s films reached 5 Million views in 10 days with huge positive social interactions, inspiring to transform the city into a playful map of sports activities, helping to build healthier nation using Google’s technology as a catalyst for social inclusion of Brazilian youth.
