Description
The packaging graphics celebrate HomePod’s iconic form and seamless mesh pattern. Hand-drawn vector illustrations of HomePod’s top and side were created to reinforce the graphic purity of the product and call attention to its intricate mesh pattern. In order to accurately represent the product colors, custom inks were mixed and tested to match the exact product specifications. This highly graphic approach set the tone for HomePod’s visual identity, establishing a bold and iconic language.
Execution
Every detail of the HomePod unboxing experience is purposeful by design. The use of materials, colors, and language are all deeply examined. The solution is expressed in a box journey that protects, as well as complements, HomePod’s iconic circular shape from top to bottom. The box interior is molded to the exact specifications of the product, the cable is neatly coiled, the user guide and document folder is custom engineered, and the graphics are designed and printed to the highest tolerances.
Outcome
The completion of HomePod packaging results in a seamless unboxing and setup experience for the user, while ensuring the product is properly housed and protected during shipment. The HomePod box both complements the lineup of Apple’s existing line of product packaging, and presents a unique approach that gives the product an identity all its own. The highly graphic approach set the tone for HomePod’s visual identity, establishing a bold and iconic language for the product.
