Description

Plastic pollution is one of the world´s most underestimate problems and related NGO´s like One Earth – One Ocean have a very little voice. To create focused awareness for our cause we started a live PR event where we surprised unsuspecting litterbugs on a beach.

A documentation of the live PR-Event was seeded targeting primarily on related NGO´s, the surfer and sailing scene and green influencers on Facebook and twitter.

The video reached over 1 million YouTube clicks. Hundred of thousands of shares, likes, clicks and impressions on social media channels. Multiple blog and magazine features, shout-outs and shares from countless green influencers, related NGO´s and some of the world top surfers, including world number 1, Jordy Smith. Donations from across the globe to finance another plastic pollution collector ship for One Earth - One Ocean.

Execution

By carelessly throwing away plastic garbage people literally make themselves immortal – because their plastic pollution stays forever. Based on this insight we created an event where we surprised unsuspecting litterbugs by celebrating their new found immortality in full public view. The surprising parade included a 100+ man marching band, an 8 meter tall statue, massive balloons, and even a vendor selling T-shirts.

Outcome

First things first: Within 14 days we had reached our target of funding the next OEOO project, a plastic pollution collector ship.

Over 1 million YouTube clicks. Thousands of YouTube likes. Hundreds of thousands of shares, likes, clicks and impressions on social media channels.

Within 2 days of launch, the One Earth One Ocean facebook page went from 350 people to 15,156 fans, aswell as from 3 people talking about it, to 28,196 people talking about it.

Multiple blog and magazine features (9Gag TV, Reddit, Hootsuite, upworthy, gawker, etc.) both global and local (Germany, Finland, Australia, England,). Shout-outs and shares from some of the world top surfers, incl
