We wanted to produce a score immediately evocative of “the movies”, that followed the emotional arc of movie making. The inspiration and anticipation, the creative endeavor and industrious pursuit and the euphoria of getting it right.
Inspired by classical symphonic poems by Tchaikovsky and Dukas to modern orchestral film scores from Alexandre Desplat and Thomas Newman, we worked with Danny Elfman to produce a magical score with drama, momentum and scale.
After delivering initial sketches, it was clear Danny shared our vision. Through zoom calls, phone calls and texts we traded ideas, refining the score into something that captured everybody’s imagination. After orchestration, we recorded an 80-piece orchestra at Abbey Road, London. The score was recorded in three separate sessions due to COVID-19 protocol. First strings and harp, followed by woodwind and brass, then percussion. Finally, the score was mixed by Peter Cobbin and Kirsty Whalley.
