This film sees the loving relationship between an elderly man and a little, white Westie. Inseparable from the start we see the duo wander the beautiful streets of Croatia, mirroring one another, providing mutual support and companionship through good times and bad. Feeding his dog Cesar is one of the ways the old man can repay his faithful friend for his unconditional friendship and love.

The lead character, Cveto Pavlin, was an 84 year old inexperienced gentleman. He comes from a non-professional background, having never studied drama art he played small roles as an amateur theatre actor. He was visually impaired as well as being hard of hearing, but given that he spoke neither Croatian or English his hearing was not an issue.

In 90 degree heat, wearing a heavy wool suit, he was asked to walk up to the top of an ancient hill town repeatedly. With a dog. And he wasn’t really a dog person.
