The choice of music was always going to be critical. We considered the classic Bond Theme, but quickly realised in the edit that it was overly repetitive and didn’t drive the edit. It also felt too obvious (and could potentially be used by other No Time To Die sponsors/partners).
But critically it said nothing about DHL. We needed a track that would span the two worlds - something that came from the Bond world, but emphasized the brand’s capabilities.
Composing a Bond-a-like track would fall flat. We turned to the Bond soundtracks... and Carly Simon’s classic - ‘Nobody does it Better’ jumped out! Not only did it sum up the DHL courier’s timeliness and precision, but the track’s synch points across the spot worked beautifully, one in particular - ‘...But like heaven above me…” as the DB5 ‘barrel rolls’ across the highways above the DHL van driving below, was perfect.
