Execution

The process started with designs for the hero drone (Bud 1876), which was then 3D printed and mounted onto the Inspire 2 drone.

Our goal was to practically film/fly the 3D printed bodied drone in different environments, then take over the drone in CG as needed.

For Bud 1876, we had to bring a little more stylization to the animation, while all the foreground drones were key frame animated so we could be very specific with movement,

We created a flocking system in the houdini that allowed us to control tens of thousands of drone to match movement of the hero animated drones with a built in collision detection system.

The modern glass structure that the drones exit was entirely digital but set amongst the real original brickwork brewery.

The interior shots ended up being entirely digital, 90'000 digital extras filled in the seats on the stadium.
