Background
Augmented Product is a pioneer program from L’Oréal Beauty Tech in which a QR code links 7 billion physical products to the digital world, engaging people in a direct conversation with the product, addressing the transparency consumers demand on products.
Despite QR code becoming the norm, it was not perceived as a gateway to innovative services and sustainable experiences. Two challenges were to be tackled:
1- change the way L’Oréal Tech, Marketing and Operations work together to enhance a scaled adoption of this new usage in merchandising, advertising, media.
2- educate consumers on the direct conversation they can have with the product, answering questions on product refill, recyclability, ingredients, sourcing...
Objectives:
1-onboard more brands in the program, inclusive of all 4 divisions at L’Oréal
2-make QR code scan a new gesture, opening the doors to new services in sustainability, transparency, education
