Description
Margot vs Lily, a Nike original scripted series, is the latest iteration of the Nike Women Better For It campaign. The story focuses on a bet between two rival sisters: a socially awkward YouTube star and an exercise-averse party girl. At its core, the show is about fitness, but it touches on how every aspect of a woman’s life—career, interests, relationships—is better when she takes risks and makes the effort to improve.
Margot vs Lily came to life as an eight-episode web series spanning over 45 minutes of total content. In Episode 1 “Resolutions”, while visiting their parents home for the holidays, Lily and Margot make a bet that will push them both outside their comfort zone.
Execution
The casting process was a total delight because I had the vast pool of New York theater actors to draw from. NIKE and the agency supported my desire to cast for the best actresses, which was so liberating and exciting. Which is why I am very pleased and proud that our sisters are different colors, and there is only one throw away reference to it in the opening episode. In every sense of the word these girls are true sisters. I think it makes our show, and us, so much richer for this experience.
