Background
Domestic abusers come from all walks of life. To the outside world, they might appear to be a friendly, successful, caring partner. But for the women they’re abusing, this ability to inflict fear without being detected makes them the scariest monsters of all. We wanted to get the word out and drum up awareness of the work Interval House Women’s Shelter does at the same time.
Outcome
We leveraged this misconception that domestic abusers look a certain way to create a timely series featuring men of many ages and ethnicities, that shed light on the “masks” abusive men wear in their public life. We got people to understand the unseen barrier women in abusive relationships face – that their abusers “doesn’t look like an abuser”.
