‘My Greatest Feat’ - a two-week school activity program – incorporated into the curriculum - that required children to count their steps on a free pedometer and attempt a simulated marathon walk the length of New Zealand – a feat of Olympic proportions. The campaign kicked off with a mailer to 2,100 primary school principals. Authored by the NZ Olympic Committee Secretary General (a former school principal), it rallied them to enlist teacher support and get signed parental consent for every single child who wanted to participate. It snowballed into the biggest physical activity program ever undertaken in New Zealand.
