For IKEA, our houses are our little worlds. With the pandemic, our little worlds have become our entire lives. Small gestures can become big changes when we do them collectively. The campaign incites people to take care of our planet and show them that even small steps like shopping at IKEA can help when done altogether. A better world starts with our own little worlds.

The idea was to re-record a version of the 1977 popular song The Bird and The Child (L’oiseau et l’enfant) by composer Jean-Paul Cara and lyricist Joe Gracy.

We created a new arrangement which is unlike the original recording, or the more popular 2016 arrangement by Kids United.

The spot’s visual aesthetic was inspired by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s famous 1943 children’s book Le Petit Prince, best known for its iconic image of the titular character standing astride his own personal planet.

Just like its inspiration Saint-Exupéry's Le Petit Prince, the campaign delivers narrative and strong emotion to mark the viewer's imaginary. Since this is an international spot, the image and sound had to be in symbiosis for the film to be outstanding, memorable and relatable to everyone.

The music and the voice post-production were done within a week. The song was first re-arranged. Then, the campaign entered into the voice post-production phase.

In our version, a young girl sings the first section, then her father sings the second section. For the third section they sing together. We loved the effect of this father/daughter duo, not only musically, but also it worked perfectly with IKEA’s family-centric brand position.

The spot aired nationally in Canada, as well as in Serbia, Romania, and Croatia, with the campaign supported by online video, digital out-of-home, social, and digital units that showcase sustainable IKEA products on their own little worlds.
