Description
We created Petra’s largest ever global interactive experience, allowing users to easily explore 18 locations across this ancient city - each location being fully-equipped with rich, guided narration, interactive information hotspots and immersive sound FX, taking visitors back to the time of the Nabateans.
Execution
Using 360º mapping and aerial imagery, together with audio narration and hotspots, we created the largest ever interactive, online guided tour of Petra. Using millions of photos stitched together to create 360º panoramas, we designed this experience to work adaptively on desktop, tablet and mobile, in over fifty languages. While the user can wander freely and at their own pace around the city using Google Street View controls to explore, the simple, ever present maps-based navigation ensures they will never get lost. The captivating audio narration is always accessible too and acts as the ultimate tour guide, transforming this trek into an immersive, informative experience.
When done exploring, visitors can learn more about Petra or explore other Jordanian historical sites. In order to raise interest and drive traffic through social media, we also partnered with Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah of Jordan to narrate the introduction video.
Outcome
Within hours of the launch, interest in Petra spread across the globe.
