Execution

Executed in shareable image form, we utilised the symbols to accurately illustrate the passes, shots and crosses involved in the real-life goal.

With a simple creative execution, we distilled the image to only feature an England flag, the pitch markings, symbols and brand logos. The images became social currency for the audience to proclaim their excitement and pride for England.

To add another element to the content, we didn’t reveal the scorer and asked the audience to figure it out via social.

We also created downloadable images of England’s world cup winning goal as a souvenir wallpaper for desktop/mobile.

Outcome

We built on the England fan’s excitement with content they shared and loved. We delivered over 74,000 engagements, double the UK average, and generated a huge 9.51% average engagement at a low rate of 18p per engagement. The content was so successful that other territories picked up the idea and ran with it. Goals from Italy, Germany and France were created and shared globally.

More importantly PS4 Sales remained at number one, and sales of FIFA15 outstripped those of the X-Box - even with their exclusive deal.
